Hi all

I just bought this product. I have connected two same displays to the desktop through display port connection. All the functions on the display settings tab like use either monitor or duplicate this monitor or identify monitor  are working. When i call identify monitor correctly show me the number of each monitor. The issue is when i click extend these displays. The first display is the main where you see the desktop files and the bottom bar and on the other monitor is only the bottom bar. The mouse is the issue which is not extended to the second monitor. The desktop is completely updated through the HP assistant software.

Any ideas on this issue i will appreciate. Thank you.

Hi @Nik155 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already configured the multiple display settings correctly, but the mouse isn't extending properly across the monitors when selecting "Extend these displays." Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check Display Arrangement

  • In the Display Settings, ensure the displays are arranged correctly. You can drag the monitor icons to match the physical setup of your monitors. If they are incorrectly arranged, the mouse cursor might not move in the expected direction.
    • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
    • Scroll down to the Multiple displays section.
    • Click and drag the numbered boxes (representing your monitors) to reflect the physical arrangement. For example, if Monitor 2 is to the right of Monitor 1, make sure the box for Monitor 2 is positioned accordingly.
    • Click Apply to save the changes.

2. Resolution Mismatch

  • Check if the monitors are running at the same resolution. Sometimes, mismatched resolutions can cause issues with the mouse transition.
    • In Display settings, check the Resolution for both monitors and make sure they are the same (or supported for each monitor).
    • Try adjusting the resolution for both displays to match.

3. Graphics Driver Update

  • Make sure the graphics driver is fully updated, even if you've already used the HP Support Assistant.
    • Visit the HP Support website or the NVIDIA/AMD/Intel website (depending on your GPU) to download the latest graphics drivers for your system.

4. Check Mouse Settings

  • If the mouse pointer isn’t moving across both screens, try checking the Mouse settings:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse.
    • Scroll down and click on Additional mouse options.
    • Ensure there are no settings enabled that might restrict the movement of the mouse cursor across displays.

5. Graphics Control Panel (NVIDIA/AMD)

  • If you have an NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, use the GPU control panel to configure the displays:
    • For NVIDIA: Open the NVIDIA Control Panel > Display > Set up multiple displays. Make sure both monitors are selected and arranged correctly.
    • For AMD: Open the AMD Radeon Software > Display > ensure both displays are recognized and arranged properly.

6. Test with Another Cable or Monitor

  • If possible, try connecting the monitors with different cables or ports (like HDMI, if available) to see if the issue persists.
  • You can also try a different monitor to ensure it's not a hardware issue.

7. Disable Third-Party Software

  • Some third-party display management software can interfere with Windows' built-in display settings. If you have any installed (like DisplayFusion or other multi-monitor software), try disabling or uninstalling it.
