Hi all,

I’d be grateful if anyone can help me as I desperately need my PC back for many reasons and cannot afford to buy a new one.

I’ve had this PC for about 9 years now and it’s in immaculate condition. I decided to clean out the internals with compressed air (I shaked the can before use etc.) I then took out the PSU as it was literally clogged with dust like a blanket so, now it looks like new and is very clean. ( I can feel the nice air from it).

Also, the GPU (NVIDIA Geforce GT230) was full of dust; I decided to remove it carefully (pulling the small tab at the bottom and pulling it out gently) and used compressed air to clean out the dust.

The main reason why I cleaned out the GPU was because it was making a strange buzzing/rattling sound. At first I thought it was the PSU but it wasn’t it was actually the GPU. So, I cleaned it and the sound still continued, I bought a new fan for it and I am awaiting it’s delivery.

I then put everything back (ensuring no lose connections etc and good firm placement) and there’s an issue where I cannot get past the HP logo, the monitor turns off and says “no signal” (VGA). I connected the PC to my TV via HDMI cable and still the same issue “no input”.  I inspected the motherboard, PSU and GPU and there is no damage whatsoever. I don’t know and it’s really stressing me as I can’t recover, restore or update BIOS properly because of this. Do I need a new GPU ? And if I do get a new GPU would the same problem occur?

Once again, the PC is about 9 years old and the GPU makes a rattling/buzzing sound and there is no signal on the monitor or tv.

Please help.

Many Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your assistance however, the torubleshooting guide never helped. The same issue persists.

Aforementioned, all RAM slots, CMOS battery and other connections were placed correctly and firmly but not forcefully causing any physical damage.

I took out the PSU to clean out and now it’s fine as the PC powers on and all fans and LED lights are on.

However, when I took out the GPU, I cleaned it gently and when I put it back in, the monitor displays “no signal” but the PC itself turns on.

It has been extremely difficult getting support hence the age of the PC. So many scammers out there wanting to out their dirty hands in my machine for easy money and parts reinforcing me to spend £100 on an diagnostics check.

All i I know is that I took out the PSU AND GPU to clean PSU AND ALL Other parts are WORKING AND no damage. however, I’m very uncertain about the PSU and am also concerned about a different GPU but the same issue mAy occur,

ive plugged in the machine t other monitors and TV’s and still no luck 😞
