HP OMEN 30L GT13-1635nd
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all,

Last week I received my HP OMEN 30L GT13-1635nd (Intel® Core™ i9-11900K, Intel® RKL Z590, HyperX® 32 GB DDR4-3200 XMP RGB MHz RAM, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080,750 W PSU). I've had some issues with the graphics card (black screen, loud fans) but was able to fix it with a reinstallation of the NVIDIA drivers. There has been one issue(?) however that I cannot fix. Whenever I load some games (like Plague Tale Innocence or Plague Tale Requiem) the GPU fans spin very loud (100%, around 3500 RPMs) within 5-10 seconds of booting the game. The temps are completely fine, they stay around 65 degrees celcius. I've tried setting a custom fan curve but that doesnt change the fan speed (in the game, outside of the game it follows the curve I set). The only thing that affects the GPU fan speed is decreasing the GPU power limit to around 60%. The GPU fans then hover around 1500 RPMs but that does cost some performance loss. I've also noticed that it only happens in fullscreen mode, the fans go back to normal in windowed and borderless mode.

I'm now stuck with 2 questions; are the fans supposed to go full speed even when the temps are fine in some games (they almost never go above 70 degrees)? And, if its not, is there a way to fix this? Or do I need to send back the PC? Thanks in advance!
