Envy TE01
Microsoft Windows 11

My new Envy is a TE01-2250XT.  It has everything I want except multiple display capability.  It has only a single HDMI port.

I got a GeForce GT 1030 2GHD4 LP OC,  When I plug it in the system seems to boot, but the display (original display port) shows nothing.  I tried using the card display ports but they do not work either.

When I shut down the system with the power button, remove the card, and power it back up, the original display port works fine again.

I can't figure out why it is not working.  I would think the power supply should not be a problem, nor that windows 11 would.

Anyone have any ideas?

The specs of your machine is

         https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-envy-desktop-te01-2250xt-pc-1k4f1av-1

You say it has option with GeForce GT 1030, its specs

        https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/gt-1030/specifications/

which shows it has DP 1.42, HDMI 2.0b, Single Link-DVI ports. You can use 2 ports DP 1.42 and HDMI 2.0b to connect to 2 monitors and they must NOT (total) over 7680x4320@60Hz (resolution goes up, refresh rate will go down and vice versa).

Hi, @Compute_Guy

Generally, when you install a video card in a HP consumer class PC, the onboard video is disabled, so that may explain why the onboard video doesn't work.

But it doesn't explain why the GT 1030 doesn't work.

The only reason I can think of for that, is the GT 1030 was not an optional card in the model series and the secure boot setting in the BIOS may have to be disabled so you can use the card.

See this related discussion for how to resolve that problem.
