using autodesk fusion 360.  popup message that my graphics driver out of date, last date was 2022.

BUT, ran hp support assistant, and windows update (and it allows for driver updates), and it states that my driver is UP TO DATE.  this is bizarre.

any feedback on this is appreciated, thanks

You can update the graphics driver to the latest version directly from the Intel website:

31.0.101.2134

Intel® 7th-10th Gen Processor Graphics - Windows*

If for some reason the auto install doesn't work, let me know and I will give you the instructions to manually install the driver.

thanks, i have put a shortcut to that site/download, on my desktop.

but, to clarify -  do i just download the EXE file, and it finds my card automatically,?

AND, why is windows and HP saying to me that the driver is up to date?

and if i do the INTEL update, will it possibly break something else?

i've done updates before, outside of the windows update procedure, and couple of them created havoc....

if all fusion is saying is that it is out of date (but otherwise won't affect performance), i don't mind leaving it at the windows/HP state of update.

that's why i'm confused

You're very welcome.

I've never had an issue updating the Intel graphics drivers directly from the Intel site.

Two things:

1. You can only do this if your PC only has the onboard Intel graphics adapter

2. You can create a restore point before you install the driver so in the unlikely event things don't work right for some reason, you can go back to the currently installed graphics driver.

Windows will only download updated drivers if either Intel or HP push the drivers to the Windows update site.

HP rarely updates the graphics drivers after a few years.

That's why I use the ones from Intel.

thanks !

I downloaded the file, ran install, it did its own contortions, but in the end, rebooted, and it seems to be working ok.

will await FUSION 360 message or not....

thanks very much !!

now, if i RE-USE that link later (6 monnth or so), will that link tell me if intel updated the driver subsequently, or is that a new link?

thanks

You're very welcome.

Yes, if you click on the link again in the future, there will be a newer version there until Intel quits updating the driver.

I would imagine they won't be updating that driver for very much longer-- a couple of more years maybe?
