I just bought this computer with the intent of using it for personal use but also connecting my work laptop to it- to use as a monitor. When I went to go do that today I noticed that I only have a HDMI output on this new HP. No HDMI input. I’m trying to see if there is a workaround or if I can use a docking station to be able to plug the HDMI cable into my work laptop and be able to use the HP as a second monitor by putting it into monitor mode. Everything that I have seen online is basically telling me that I can’t…. Is this true. Did anyone else have this issue?

Unfortunately, there is no way you will be able to use your PC's display as a monitor.

The HDMI port is output only, not matter what device you connect to it.

Dang! Thank you for your reply. Do you happen to know if there is an all in one pc (no tower) that would have this capability?

You're very welcome.

Yes, they do exist.

They will have two HDMI ports, one in and one out.

I found one model on HP's sales page.

It's not cheap...
