I am trying to connect 2 monitors to my system but they are both HDMI while my system only has 1 HDMI input and 1 VGA. I've tried a couple HDMI to VGA converters and a HDMI/VGA combo cable but when I connect HDMI to VGA, there is no picture. The HMDI to HDMI is fine and if I switch the monitors with that connection, the display always works for HDMI/HDMI, I have tested with multiple cables and computers so I know it is not the monitors themselves or the cables.
Is there something else I need to do to get this working?
Thanks

You need a NATIVE VGA cable to connect to a VGA monitor. Conversion from VGA (analog) to HDMI (digital) won't work on this even with a proper converter.
Regards.

Thanks for the response. Not sure I explained this very well in my original post but both of my monitors are HDMI but my desktop has 1 VGA output and 1 HDMI, I tried to connect the HDMI monitor to the VGA desktop output using a number of converters and a combo HDMI (connect to the monitor)/VGA (connect to the desktop) cable but they are not working.
My understanding is this should work as long as I keep the resolution low enough but it doesn't.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
