Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to connect a laptop using it's HDMI port to a HP Z23i monitor with display port.  I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a cable that works or what specs to look for in a cable.

I've read other threads that suggest that it's very difficult to know which HDMI to displayport cables will actually work with the HP displayport 1.1.

The specs of the monitor

In many cases cables DP - HDMI only work one way (from machine to monitor, but not from monitor back to computer). In this case, it is much easier to use HDMI (from your computer) to DVI (on your monitor) because there are plenty of cables around.

Regards.
