hp 22es

I just bought an HP 2es monitor a few days ago. But suddenly, from today morning all the buttons on the monitor has stopped working. Neither can I perform any change on the display settings nor  I can reset it to Factory Defaults using the option in the display menu, as the menu itself is not showing up. Most of the buttons, when pressed, powers the monitor on and off and does nothing else..  I am at lost here. Please, any kind of help is appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP 22es monitor. I read that the monitor buttons are no longer working and nothing happens when you press them. Most of the buttons will power on and off the monitor.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Does the monitor display work when connected to the computer?
  • Did any changes take place on the monitor?

Meanwhile. I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Turn off the monitor and the computer.

  • Unplug the monitor from the wall outlet and the computer.

  • Press and hold the monitor's power button for 10 seconds and then release it.

Holding down the Power button or Menu button for ten seconds will lock out the functionality of that button. You can restore the functionality by holding the button down again for ten seconds. This functionality is only available when the monitor is powered on, displaying an active signal, and the OSD is not active.

Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to disable the Power Button Lockout function.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

  • Yes, the display works fine when I connect it to my computer. But the buttons don't work as desired.
  • What do you mean by changes?

But nothing seems different  when I follow these steps:

It's still the same. Is there any other way to hard reset the monitor?

Oh, another question that just popped into my mind after reading your reply; does the monitor has some kind of CMOS like battery powered memory or something that stores the custom settings when you power off the display? If not, then how can pressing the power button for 10 seconds while the display is completely powered off reset this thing?

Thank you for your reply.

By any changes, I mean any software updates.

Yes, there is some information that resides on a chip inside the monitor. as mentioned earlier, holding down the Power button or Menu button for ten seconds will lock out the functionality of that button. You can restore the functionality by holding the button down again for ten seconds. This functionality is only available when the monitor is powered on, displaying an active signal, and the OSD is not active.

If the issue persists then I suggest you to contact our HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for your HP monitor.

Hope this answers your question. Take care! 🙂
