HP ENVY 23-o014 All-in-One Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I am having an issue with the screen on my HP 23 o014 Touchsmart All in one. The right side of the screen is starting to get dark in areas but there are a few sport at the very edge where it is very bright.  There has never been any physical damage to the screen but I'm assuming it has something to do with the age of the computer. I would like to replace the screen if it will fix the issue but I don't know of the issue is within the screen itself or something behind the screen? I never dealt with a touchscreen computer before. I don't want to order a new screen and just have it be a piece of glass.  Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to fix the issue or what I would need to replace??

@Crday06,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It looks like your screen issue is related to the backlight, which is common as displays age. The darkening on one side, along with those bright spots at the edge, suggests that either the LED backlight is failing or something inside the display, like the light diffuser, isn’t distributing the light evenly anymore.

To figure out if the problem is with the screen itself or something else behind it, you can try connecting an external monitor using HDMI. If the external display looks fine, then the issue is definitely with your built-in screen. If the problem appears on the external monitor too, then it could be a graphics-related issue, though that’s less likely in your case.

The most likely causes are either a failing LED backlight, a loose or damaged display cable, or just the natural aging of the LCD panel. If it’s the backlight or the panel itself, replacing the screen should fix it. If it’s just a loose cable inside, reseating it might help, but that would require opening up the computer.

Since your computer is a touchscreen model, you’ll need to replace the entire screen assembly, which includes the LCD panel, backlight, and touchscreen glass. If you want, I can help you find the exact part number for a replacement screen, so you don’t end up ordering the wrong thing.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
