Just a warning to anyone else using the HP 27ES Display.
I’ve discovered it has a potential fire hazard. One of the ICs on the circuit board in mine caught fire, and charred the nearby capacitor and metal cage on the back.
It stopped working about a week ago, no power light no display. I switched the power cord with my 27F, still no dice. After taking off the back, and removing the metal cage, I found that one of the SMT devices was deformed and it's surroundings were charred.
This product has been out for nearly 9 years now, and I've had mine for 8 years. Although my 27F display is still running (7 years) I will now consider it a safety risk as well, and I will not leave it plugged in without my attention.
