- HP 27xq will not allow 1440p/120hz over HDMI?

I have recently purchased the HP 27xq because it promises to achieve 1440p at 120hz over HDMI.
But I am disappointed to find I can't seem to achieve this? I can only run 1440p at 60hz, or 1080p at 120hz.
I am using the new Xbox Series X, which supports the above requirements. I have enabled Gaming-FreeSync in the TV Viewing Modes.
Please can someone help me understand why I am not able to achieve this?
Many Thanks

i this and XBOX post? to HP monitor?
well all things like this xbox too.
3 things must be right.
monitor, gpu card, (or chip) and the driver for the chip must allow that, all 3 things. (even the OS, on Xbox I know zero about)
why would freesync work here?
i am reading the spec, and is horrible spec, a good spec, must show a matrix. of allows sweep speeds,
for over 4 decades this. (ever heard of the old multisync monitors) that did all that, the same thing is true today.
there rules and limits, and for sure at 120hz refresh.
the page shows.
Native resolution (QHD (2560 x 1440)),Maximum resolution (QHD (2560 x 1440 @ 144 Hz)).
but no matrix of support, W x H x refresh matrix tables missing
lets see i f google can ferret this out.
i guess the matrix is not needed, and is monotonic from 50Hz to 144Hz
they even forget showing legacy sweep rates, and old resolutions
first hit on readit, shows "turn off free or adaptive sync."
posted as cured, same monitor xbox.

What is 'free or adaptive sync' and where can I find it in the TV settings to turn off?
If it means the AMD FreeSync, then I have tried disabling this but still the monitor will not accept 1440p at 120hz over HDMI, as the product claims to be able to.
I cannot see why the Xbox would be a problem, it allows this configuration, but when changing the settings claims "your tv does not support this resolution".
I am very close to returning the product if I cannot find a resolution, as it was this specific configuration I purchased it for 😞
Thanks

I have the exact same problem! It doesn't even look bad at 1080p 120hz but I bought it in the hopes it would actually give out 1440 at 120hz rather than 60hz. Not sure about returning, as it looks fine but very annoying if it cant actually achieve 1440p at 120hz over hdmi as it claims it can.
