HP 950 4K Webcam

Hi there,

sadly I was not able to get my HP 950 4K Webcam running on my fresh installed Windows 11 Pro N (24H2) system. I tried all HP dirvers/software from this source. Installation of HP Webcam Control Center was possible without any error, but after a reboot I keep getting DLL Errors caused by the HP Webcam Control Center. Doesn't look good for HP in terms of software qualitiy!! This Error Message is in german language, but i basically says that the software (HP Webcam Control Center) can't continue running because it can't find the file MFPlat.DLL. I already tried to fix the MFPlat.DLL Error by placing the DLL in the specific Windows folders but after this the HP Webcam Control Center keep producing more and more different DLL Error messages...

Also tried to install the Microsoft Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0 package, because this was suggested to fix the DLL error, without any luck.

# 1. remove
dism /online /remove-capability /capabilityname:Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0
# 2. reboot
# 3. install again
dism /online /add-capability /capabilityname:Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0

Hey HP support, do you got any solution for this or can provide the community with working driver software for Windows 11 systems??

Many thanks!

Hi @34ru983rh983jf0, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're facing with the HP 950 4K Webcam on Windows 11 Pro N (24H2) is likely due to missing Media Feature Pack (MFP) components, which are not included in Windows N editions by default. The MFPlat.DLL file is a core part of the Media Foundation framework, which is required for media-related software to function properly.

Steps to Fix the MFPlat.DLL and HP Webcam Control Center Errors

Ensure Media Feature Pack is Installed Properly

Your method of reinstalling MFP using DISM should normally work, but in Windows 11 24H2, the process has changed slightly. Instead of using DISM, try installing MFP through Settings:

  • Go to: Settings > Apps > Optional Features
  • Click on "View features"
  • Search for "Media Feature Pack"
  • Select it and click Install
  • Restart your PC after installation

Once installed, verify that the required DLL files exist in C:\Windows\System32\ and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

Check for Missing DLLs with System File Checker

Run the following commands in an elevated Command Prompt (Admin): sfc /scannow

This will scan and repair corrupted/missing system files.

If the issue persists, try: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

This will repair your Windows installation.

Install Windows Media Player

Since Windows N editions lack media-related components, installing Windows Media Player can help resolve missing dependencies:

  • Go to: Settings > Apps > Optional Features
  • Click Add a feature
  • Search for "Windows Media Player"
  • Install and restart your system.

Reinstall HP Webcam Control Center

If you still see DLL errors, uninstall HP Webcam Control Center and reinstall it after ensuring Media Feature Pack and Windows Media Player are installed.

  • Uninstall it via:
Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > HP Webcam Control Center > Uninstall
  • Restart your PC
  • Download and reinstall from HP website
  • Restart again and check for errors

Try Running Webcam Without HP Software

If you still face issues with HP Webcam Control Center, try using the webcam without it. Windows 11 has built-in webcam support:

  • Open Camera app (Win + S → Type Camera)
  • Check if the webcam is detected and working
  • Test it in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or OBS Studio

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your detailed reply. It appears that the issue was caused by the Windows 11 Pro N (24H2) version, which conflicted with the HP Software. When I attempted to install the Media Feature Pack, it repeatedly failed with strange errors. However, after performing a fresh installation of Windows 11 Pro (24H2), the HP Software worked perfectly. I'm pleased to report that I can now use the webcam without any issues.
