HP ENGAGE 14 FHD DISPLAY + FLEX IO issue?

Hello!

I recently bought a Pro Mini G9 with flex IO typeC board to connect it to my ENGAGE 14 FHD monitor but, when i connect the display on the typec of the flex board, windows show it few seconds and after disappear.

What am i doing wrong?

• Are you connecting the monitor directly with a USB-C cable, or are you using an adapter/docking station?
• Does the monitor remain powered on when the display disappears?
• Have you tested the monitor with another system or another USB-C cable?
• Are there any error messages shown in Windows when the monitor disconnects?
• Does the monitor work correctly when connected through HDMI or DisplayPort (if available)?

From the image provided, the Flex IO module appears to be a USB Type-C SuperSpeed port. Depending on the specific Flex IO configuration installed in your Pro Mini, the USB-C port may provide data connectivity only, or it may support DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video output. 
 

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm : 

1. Update the system BIOS to the latest available version for your HP Pro Mini 400 G9.
2. Install the latest Intel graphics driver and chipset driver from HP Support https://support.hp.com/ .
3. Open Device Manager and check for any warnings under: 
   • Display adapters
   • Universal Serial Bus controllers
   • Monitors
4. Verify that the USB-C cable supports video transmission (DisplayPort Alt Mode). Some USB-C cables support charging and data only.
5. Connect the monitor after Windows has fully loaded and observe whether it remains detected in Settings > System > Display.

The display does not turn on. I think the issue may be related to the power output of the USB-C Flex IO port.

The monitor requires 27W (9V / 3A), and I cannot understand whether this port is capable of providing that amount of power.

I am, of course, connecting the monitor using the original HP cable provided with the monitor.

I am not using a docking station.

The monitor never powers on.

When I connect it, I can hear the typical "new hardware connected" sound in Windows, and after 2–3 seconds I hear the "hardware disconnected" sound. I can see the monitor listed in the hardware panel for approximately 3 seconds before it disappears.

I also tried powering the monitor with a large battery pack, and it works correctly (although there is no video signal).

I tested the Flex IO port with a USB hub (Ethernet, HDMI, and USB ports), and the HDMI output works correctly. This makes me think that the Flex IO port supports DisplayPort.

So, the main question is:

Can the USB-C Flex IO port provide a 9V / 3A (27W) power output to the monitor?

If not, is there another setting, adapter, or configuration required to provide enough power to the monitor?

Based on the information you have provided, the HP Engage 14 monitor itself appears to be functioning correctly, as it powers on when connected to an external power source. Additionally, the HP Pro Mini 400 G9 Flex IO USB-C port appears to support video output, since your USB-C hub's HDMI output works as expected.

At this point, the behaviour suggests that the issue is likely related to power delivery through the USB-C Flex IO port rather than video capability. The monitor requires up to 27W (9V/3A) for operation, and not all USB-C ports are designed to provide that level of USB Power Delivery output.

If the monitor functions normally when externally powered, this would confirm that the USB-C Flex IO port is not providing sufficient power for the display.

Thank you for the conclusions, but I have to say that I had already reached the same conclusion myself.

The problem is that this Flex I/O Port is advertised as supporting 100W, which would mean 20V × 5A. What I would really like to know are the exact specifications and requirements, because I have already spent both time and money purchasing all the necessary components, and I would like to find a solution to make this monitor work.

The monitor does not even work when connected directly to a MacBook Air with Thunderbolt ports.

Is it possible to provide me with the exact specifications and, more importantly, explain how I can make this monitor work with the Flex I/O Port?

I would appreciate a concrete solution rather than simply confirming the conclusion above.
