HP 750-514
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey everyone, I've ran into a weird issue with connecting a second monitor. So the PC I am on is an HP ENVY 750-514 which has two HDMI ports to connect to. While the first HDMI port has no connection issues, I've ran across a particular issue with trying to connect an additional monitor to the second HDMI port. Whenever I connect a second monitor I get the ding/ring notification on my computer (so its detecting something being connected) and even opening the 'Display settings' shows a second monitor that's connected. However the second monitor always says a signal cannot be detected and then right after goes into sleep mode. Now I've done some troubleshooting which I will include below.

- Checked for any updates to the graphics driver (Intel HD Graphics 630)

- Checked for any and all updates

- Switched display setting from Extend to Duplicate and back to Extend

- Changed out HDMI cables

- Tested with a different monitor

- Reconnected the RAM

- Disconnected everything + held power button for 15 seconds

- Took out CMOS battery for 10 minutes then placed back

The second monitor works fine on another computer and it even works when I connect it to the first HDMI port, but it seems like something is off with the second HDMI port. I did check the port to see if there was any dust or damage to it but as far as I can tell nothing looks damaged. I did however change out the RAM and prior to that the second HDMI port has worked normally. I went from the stock 12gb DDR4-2133 to 16gb DDR4 DRAM-2133 (Corsair Vengeance). The RAM shows up fine when I look at my info and through the task manager. Is it possible that the change in RAM caused this issue? I do have the old RAM lying around which I was about to try next, but I wanted to see if anyone had some ideas I could try if that doesn't end up fixing the issue. Any help is great. Thanks!

Have you tried manually cycling thru the inputs on the monitor?

I have, but on the two working monitors I have each of them shows HDMI 2 as "Inactive".

the RAM change cannot be a cause for the issue.

You also tried swapping the cables ?

If so, then prolly the port on the video card is kaput.
