I bought a new HP ENVY Desktop PC TPE01-3000i last week. It came with Windows 11. The hardware can support up to 4 monitors. I have 3 monitors.
The PC only has 1 VGA port, 1 HDMI port, and then many USB ports. Regardless of the adapter I use, the PC cannot display a monitor through a USB port; I've bought 3 different adapters and none of them have drivers that work with an HP running Windows 11.
Microsoft Support said it was an HP issue; they said they need to add USB display capabilities for their machines running Windows 11. Is there any solution available right now that would allow me to connect a monitor through my machine's USB port?

There is the possibility of using a USB to DVI/HDMI adapter - not a cable but a device. I cannot tell if your PC has Displayport possiblity, so this will work

Thanks. I should clarify a couple things:
- I confirmed the graphics card & motherboard can handle up to 4 monitors
- I do not have a DP port on the machine, just 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, and many USB ports
- Microsoft support basically told me it was HP’s fault for not supporting USB-based monitor displays in Windows 11 yet
I dont know who to blame - the OS or the PC manufacturer, but it is mind boggling that a brand new desktop cannot support 3 monitors if one of them must go through a USB port

Update: per HP, the PC wasn't built for the USB ports to be able to connect and extend displays. I'm completely SoL, the computer will always be limited to just the 1 VGA and 1 HDMI outputs. Feel like technology is going backwards, what a piece of junk

A VGA to HDMI adapter will not give you what you want, as it needs to be an active adapter. You could add a graphics card that will fulfill the additional requirements. Most modern cards will give you three or four monitor options, however the PC under consideration cannot support a high power graphics card because of the power supply.
Or you can use the USB adapter already mentioned above.
What was the "generic HDMI graphics card" - make and model?
