Hi @Conejo111,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the firmware update might have caused a configuration or compatibility issue with your HP M27FD FHD monitor. Let’s work through some troubleshooting steps to resolve the "split screen" issue.

Power Cycle the Monitor

  1. Turn off the monitor.
  2. Unplug it from the power source and disconnect it from the computer.
  3. Wait for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Reconnect everything and turn the monitor back on.

Reset the Monitor to Factory Settings

  • Use the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu:
    1. Press the Menu button on the monitor.
    2. Navigate to Factory Reset or Reset All Settings.
    3. Confirm the reset and restart the monitor.

Check Display Settings on Your Computer

Ensure the issue isn't related to resolution or display settings:

  1. For Windows:
    • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
    • Ensure the resolution matches the native resolution of the monitor (1920x1080 for the HP M27FD FHD).
    • Check that the refresh rate is set correctly (60Hz).
  2. For macOS:
    • Go to System Settings > Displays.
    • Select Default for Display or adjust the resolution to match 1920x1080.

Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Sometimes, an update can cause driver conflicts:

  • For Windows:
    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Display adapters.
    3. Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.
    4. Alternatively, reinstall the latest drivers from your GPU manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel).
  • For macOS: Ensure your system is updated to the latest version under System Settings > Software Update.

Reapply or Roll Back the Firmware

If the firmware update is causing the issue:

  • Reapply Firmware Update:
    • Visit the official HP support page for the HP M27FD and download the latest firmware again.
    • Follow the installation instructions carefully.
  • Rollback Firmware (if possible):
    • Some monitors allow rolling back to the previous firmware version through the OSD or with HP's assistance.

Check for Hardware Damage

If the issue persists, there might be a hardware issue caused during or after the firmware update:

  • Test the monitor with a different computer or device.
  • Use a different cable (HDMI/DisplayPort) to rule out cable issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
