HP Monitor 25es is showing "inactive" signal for HDMI 1 and 2

My monitor will not display anything, everything is plugged in, but the monitor is showing as "input signal not found" and that HDMI 1 and 2 are "inactive.  Tried my mac on my work monitor and everything worked fine.  I tried to change the input controls, but nothing is working.
