In the last year I purchased 2 HP monitors from Target and both currently are not working correctly. I spent a lot of my work time today looking for purchase receipts, serial & product numbers for these monitors thinking that they were covered under a 12-month warranty. After setting up an account and a case number on hp.com, I called the customer service phone number. First, it took me multiple minutes to navigate the automated telephone prompts that could not understand my voiced statements seeking assistance. Once I got in the phone queue for "other" warranty service requests, I spent 30 minutes on hold waiting for assistance. Once I got on the phone with what seemed to be an Indian call-center, the HP customer service rep told me that that the warranty for one of my monitors began six months prior to the date that I purchased it. They said that my warranty was based on the manufacture date of July 2022. So, for the monitor that I purchased in January 2023, the warranty had expired in July 2023. For the second monitor that I purchased in October 2022 the warranty started in January 2023 and should expire January 2024. The customer service rep proceeded to say that, since I submitted the information for both of my monitors under one warranty customer support case number (5115551113), that they are both now considered under the same, expired, 12 month warranty. The customer service rep proceeded to say that he would forward my call to the "Smart Friend Team." I asked for the phone number so that I could call them directly. He told me that he would connect me directly and that he would give me the phone number after he put me on another 1-2 minute hold while he "typed-up" the information for my case. After another 6 minutes on hold, he proceeded to give me the phone number for the Smart Friend Team. The options to choose from in this new voice activated phone tree was for those who are members or enrolled (can't remember the exact term) versus those who are not members or enrolled. I read this scam to be additional costs for a defective throw-away monitor that is <12 months old. [edit]
