My HP Omen 17 that I got back in September is not sending signal through HDMI to my second monitor. The HDMI will connect to a drawing tablet I have and I've tested the HDMI cable and the monitor that it is not connecting to with a different computer and neither of those are defective. It used to be able to connect. All my graphics drivers are up to date.
Edit: The laptop recognizes that the external monitor is connected, but it is still not sending out a signal to that monitor. I can see different options for the display in display settings, but when I click Detect Other Displays it says no display is detected

Hi @joshvh1
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since you've already confirmed that the HDMI cable and the monitor are functioning properly with another computer, the issue seems to be specific to your HP Omen 17 laptop. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
Step 1
1. Turn off the Unit.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. Remove any discs from the disc drive.
4. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
5. Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
6. Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
7. Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.
Step 2
Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit
Step3
The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit
Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.
- Check Hardware Connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely plugged into both the laptop and the external monitor. Sometimes, a loose connection can prevent the signal from being transmitted properly.
- Try Different HDMI Port: If your HP Omen 17 has multiple HDMI ports, try using a different port to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is related to a specific port on the laptop.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Although you mentioned that your graphics drivers are up to date, it might be worth reinstalling or updating them again to ensure there are no issues with the drivers.
- Check Display Settings: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings." Make sure that the external monitor is detected in the settings. You can try to extend or duplicate the display to the second monitor to see if that resolves the issue.
- Restart Your Laptop and Monitor: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both your laptop and the external monitor, then turn them back on and check if the HDMI connection works.
- Check BIOS/UEFI Settings: Access the BIOS or UEFI settings of your laptop and ensure that there are no settings preventing the HDMI output from functioning properly. Sometimes, there are options related to display output that can be adjusted in the BIOS/UEFI.
- Check for Windows Updates: Make sure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for various hardware issues.
- Try a Different Cable: Even if the HDMI cable appears to be in good condition, there might be issues with it. Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the external monitor.

I went through the steps and it seemed to recognize that the checksums in the bios didnt match up and then it proceeded to repair the bios. I restarted the computer and connected the hdmi cable to the second monitor and the problem remains the same. The laptop's screen will flash indicating that it recognizes there is a connection to another monitor and it displays that monitor in the NVidia graphics card settings but the second display still does not recognize being plugged into the laptop (and it is not shown in the regular Display settings menu). Though when I test the second monitor with a different computer and the same HDMI cable to monitor recognizes the connection and an image appears on the monitor.
