Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

As the title says;

I have to turn on the oled protection in my screen trough the OSD everytime it has gone to sleep. Same issue on both the gaming and professional profile.

The screen's firmware is updated with the (only one available) update 1.0.6.0 Rev.A from Nov. 8 2024.

Anyone with the same issue and/or a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @TimNomivaas,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing, where the OLED protection setting on your HP Omen Transcend 32 resets to "OFF" after the screen goes to sleep, could be related to a firmware bug or a compatibility issue with the system. Here are some steps you can try to address the problem.

Verify the Current Firmware Installation

  • Ensure that the firmware update (1.0.6.0 Rev.A) was installed correctly. Sometimes, reapplying the firmware update can resolve issues.
  • Check HP's support page for any newer firmware updates that may address this specific problem. Since the last update is from November 2024, a newer version might be available soon.

Factory Reset the Monitor

  • Perform a factory reset on the monitor through the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu. This can clear any settings-related glitches.
  • After the reset, re-enable OLED protection and test if it retains the setting after sleep.

Disable or Adjust Sleep Settings

  • In your operating system, adjust the power settings to prevent the monitor from going to sleep as a temporary workaround.
  • You can try setting the screen to turn off after a longer period of inactivity rather than entering sleep mode.

Check Cable and Connection

  • Make sure you're using a high-quality cable (DisplayPort or HDMI) and that it's properly connected. Sometimes, power interruptions caused by poor connections can affect settings retention.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm getting the same issue.  My Static Screen Protection option keeps turning off - the other OLED Protection options remain enabled though.  I'm also on the latest firmware and have tried factory reset my monitor.

I didn't make the connection that it's when the monitor goes to sleep, however - mine may still be random.  I did just let my PC go to sleep after 5 minutes and the static screen protection was still on.    I'm going to keep paying attention to see when this actually happens and see if I can't correlate something.

Hi @mackieem

Thank you for your response.

Check for Settings Retention in OSD (Hidden Options)

  • Access the Service Menu of the monitor:
    1. Power off the monitor.
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Power buttons together for about 10 seconds.
    3. Look for EEPROM Reset or similar storage-related options.
    4. If available, reset it, then reconfigure OLED protection settings.

Test Different Input Sources

  • If using DisplayPort, try HDMI and vice versa.
  • Some settings may not persist correctly depending on the signal input type.

Check for DDC/CI Conflicts

  • Go to the OSD and disable DDC/CI (a feature that allows software to change display settings remotely).
  • Some software (like HP Display Center) might be overriding or resetting your settings.

Use the HP Display Center App

  • Open HP Display Center (if installed).
  • Look for Static Screen Protection settings there.
  • Set it to On and check if it persists after sleep.

Monitor EDID Corruption Check

  • If the monitor loses settings, the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) might be failing.
  • Use a tool like CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) to read and back up your monitor’s EDID.
  • If corruption is detected, try forcing a fresh detection:
    1. Open Device Manager → Expand Monitors.
    2. Right-click your HP Omen Transcend 32 → Select Uninstall Device.
    3. Restart your PC.

Try a Different PC or OS

  • If possible, connect your monitor to another PC or laptop.
  • If the issue persists across devices, it's likely a monitor firmware bug.
  • If it only happens on your PC, a driver conflict may be causing it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Same issue, when the monitor enters HDR mode all the burn in proctections default to off no matter what I do. In sdr they work as intended.
