The monitor cuts out completely several times a day - to the point where the power button is still lit but the power switch doesn't even work. The only thing that resets it is pulling the power cable out for a second and plugging it back in.
This issue happens with both the VGA and the DVI connection. One is connected via a KVM switch to HP PC (1) and the other to HP PC (2), so it's not the video card.
I'm pretty sure there's no way to flash the firmware. Is there? Just wondering if there are any other possible solutions. The monitor is fine in every other way.
[I would have chose a "Monitor" community forum board but there doesn't seem to be one]

Welcome to the HP Forums,
We'll be with you until it's all sorted & beyond!
Have you attempted to check if this issue persists on an alternate monitor or TV when connected to the same computer?
Meanwhile, here's what you need to do if you don't have access to an additional monitor or TV as such, to identify the issue and resolve it accordingly:
- If not done already, check if it works fine on the BIOS screen to identify if it's either a hardware or a software issue:
- If it works fine on the BIOS (Accessed while tapping F10 during a restart) it's a software issue & I suggest creating a new user account to check if that works better, for starters)
- However, if it doesn't work within the BIOS either, I'm afraid it's a hardware malfunction and you'll need to Contact HP to have it repaired.
While you respond to that, I have a few more steps that should help:
Attempt to run a test from the HP hardware diagnostic tool, using this link: Click here for details.
If the dots appear on the diagnostics, it could again, determine a hardware failure,
If they don't appear on bios & the hardware tests passed: please update the BIOS & Chip-set drivers from the HP website using this link: Click here
Let me know how that pans out
I will have a colleague follow-up on this to ensure it's taken care off, in case you don't respond in the next 24-48hrs,
As I need to know if the issue has been resolved, to get proper sleep at night.
Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon,
Followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution' as it would help the community gain more knowledge and have a great day Ahead!

Hello,
I ran the diagnostics and they all passed. Like I said, the issue occurs both when the VGA port is active (PC1) and when the DVI port is active (PC2). So, it's not the video cards, which are different, and it's not the computers, which are also different.
When the monitor cuts out, the power switch doesn't even work, so in my opinion, that points to a hardware issue absolutely.
Thanks,
Shimon.
