I have dual monitors (HP Pavilion 25bw) connected to separate graphics cards both GeForce GTX 1070. The issue I am having is one of the monitors recently started to black screen and now will only stay on for a few minutes if I pull the power and restart it. While troubleshooting - I have swapped both monitors, the graphics cards, display ports, power supplies, outlets and did a factory reset. Nothing appears to be loose and there is no screen distortion when it is on for even a few minutes. Once it goes to a black screen I cannot control the power or use the touch controls but the power light remains on. I even plugged in a 3rd monitor (not HP) to test the graphics card and that one worked as expected and never shut off.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your computer screen goes black, I am glad to assist you.

Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

  • HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Updates in the My notebook pane
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Updates list in HP Support Center
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

  • Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

This is a monitor problem - not the PC. As I said I have two of the EXACT same monitors. One works fine the other one black screens and locks up the touch controls. If I unplug it and plug it back in - it works for a few minutes.
