HP Pavilion 24-xa All-in-One Desktop PC (5KF25AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The webcam on my Pavilion All-In-One is an in-built pop-up unit, and has stopped working. I have an HP Pavillion All-in-one 24-xa1xxx. This includes the main 2MP camera as well as the infra-red camera used for Windows Hello signing in function (which is annoying!)

On troubleshooting I noticed that the webcam is only detected by the PC (verified via the Device Manager) that it is active and working properly if the camera is recessed into its slot (down position) which should be when its OFF. When I pull up, into its ON position, the PC believes that the webcam is not connected and it disappears completely from the Device Manager. The camera app (which I'm using to test if the camera is working) then says 'We can't find your camera' and gives the error code 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>

I tried to update the driver and the system says the current driver is the correct one. I have tried uninstalling the device and letting windows re-install it and still no success

I cannot find any original drivers from the HP website as My PC now has Windows 11 (it shipped with Windows 10 when new and auto updated to Windows 11), so when I look my device up on the HP website it says that they have no drivers for my device. My PC is several years old and out of warranty.

Are there any controls for the camera in the BIOS? I don't know much about BIOSs really, but I'm wondering if it's possible for the on/off action of pulling the camera up and pushing it down somehow got inverted? The other possibility is a cable is damaged, and when you lift up the camera unit the cable is pulled a bit and disconnects. There is a BIOS update available in the 'optional updates' section of windows update, or through the HP diagnostics app - which I'm assuming is the same update.

Same issue with mine.   Does anyone have the fix?
