Hello,
I have an HP2311X computer and monitor.
When I try and turn on the screen, the screen shows the following:
DVI: Active
HDMI: No Signal
VGA: No Signal
And then the screen goes black.
How do I fix this?
I tried removing the cord that connects to the computer and replugging it (after waiting 30 seconds).
I tried removing the cord that connects to the outlet and replugging it (after waiting 30 seconds).
What else can I do to fix it? It's been inactive for a few days now.

Hey there! @racalasi,
Have you tried checking with a different monitor? Does the issue persist?
Try the monitor on another computer to ensure that the monitor is functional.
Also, try the steps recommended below.
-
Cycle the power on the monitor as follows:
-
Turn off the monitor. The power light on the monitor should be off. Leave the computer turned on.
-
Unplug the power cord.
-
Wait 5 seconds.
-
Plug in the power cord.
-
Press the power button on the monitor to turn on the monitor.
One of two things happens:
-
The image from the computer displays on the monitor and you can use the computer again. This indicates that the monitor was unable to detect that the computer had awakened from suspend mode. Turn the monitor off when it is not being used or disable suspend mode on the computer. For some computers, updating the BIOS can correct these types of suspend problems.
OR
-
The power light on the monitor comes on but the screen displays one of the messages again. The monitor is not receiving a video signal from the computer that it can detect and use. Continue using these steps.
-
-
-
If the computer is on, wait until the hard drive activity light on the computer is not lit and then press and hold the Power button on the computer case until the computer turns off.
-
If the monitor has a factory reset or restore option, set it. Press the Menu button on the front panel and select Factory Reset.
-
Wait 5 seconds and then turn on the computer by pressing the Power button again.
-
Adjust the Windows display resolution to a setting that is compatible with the monitor.
NOTE:
The best possible resolution quality for your monitor is the native resolution. The native resolution setting for your model of monitor can be found in the Monitor User Guide, the monitor's product packaging, and product specifications.
-
Restart the computer and press F8 repeatedly after the first logo screen.
-
Select Enable Low Resolution Video (640 x 480) from the Advanced Options Menu.
-
Windows should open showing a Windows desktop in a resolution of 640 x 480. Icons and windows appear much larger on the screen. You will need to use the Windows scroll bars to access the lower buttons in some windows.
-
Disable power settings in the BIOS
-
Turn on the computer and repeatedly press F10 until the BIOS setup utility opens.
-
In the BIOS Setup utility, press the Right Arrow key and select the Power tab.
-
Press the Down Arrow key to select Hardware Power Management, then press Enter.
-
Press the Right Arrow key to disable SATA Power Management.
-
Press F10 to save the settings.
-
Press the Left Arrow key and select the File tab.
-
Press the Down Arrow key to select Save Changes and Exit, then press Enter twice.
Try the steps recommended below to restore monitor to factory settings.
To access the OSD menu and make adjustments, do the following:
1. If the monitor is not already on, press the Power button to turn on the monitor.
2. To access the OSD menu, press one of the Function buttons on the bottom side of the monitor's front
bezel to activate the buttons, and then press the Menu button to open the OSD.
3. Use the three Function buttons to navigate, select, and adjust the menu choices. The button labels are
variable depending on the menu or submenu that is active.
4. Select management from the list.
Select factory default settings to restore monitor back to the factory settings.
5. Select exit from the OSD menu.
Try checking with a different monitor or a different video cable and check if it helps.
