Hi there fellow HP customers and fellow HP TouchSmart users!
I have an HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite All-in-One Business PC from 2011 and recently updated the BIOS firmware on it the latest version (downloaded from support.hp.com) because according to an HP agent I spoke with by phone you must do that in order for the machine to recognize a graphics card so I did that and then bought a compatible MXM graphics card on eBay.
Depending on which configuration your business purchased, HP shipped HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite PCs either with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M MXM graphics card or with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 (mine shipped with the latter.)
I want to upgrade my HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite to an NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M MXM graphics card since it has an available MXM slot on the system board. I tried doing that however for some reason after installing the NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M MXM graphics card into the TouchSmart PC, whenever I turn on the machine it boots up with a black screen. I can see the backlight come on, but no image. I have absolutely no idea why this keeps happening. I removed the MXM card and now the machine boots up just fine though it sure would be nice to use that graphics card!
Here are my system specifications for those who want it:
