HP 24-a210 all-in-one desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The TrueVision Webcam on my HP 24-a210 All-In-One does not work. I do not know if it has ever worked. I have had the computer for about a year and a half but have never used the camera since I also have a laptop that I use for video conferencing. Now I am in  need of it for my grandchildren to use for online classes because of the Coronavirus. When I go to camera, I can open the app fine but if it was working right I should see myself on the screen. All I get is a solid black display with the function buttons. The camera does not pop up out of the top of my computer  like it should. When I go to Device  Manager, then Imaging devices, the Webcam does not show up in the list. Does anyone know what might be causing this. It appears to me that the driver may be missing or didn't install properly.

@Proretired,

I reviewed your post and I understand that the webcam is not working on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Your webcam must be selected as the video capture device in your webcam software. If the computer has multiple video input sources, your webcam software might be connected to something other than your webcam.

To select the webcam as your video source, open your webcam software and look for video camera, video source, or video caption in the software's properties or preferences. Here are some common examples of selecting the webcam as the video source:

NOTE: The name of your webcam displays as USB Video Device, HP Webcam, USB 2.0 Camera, HP Pavilion Webcam, or something similar. If you do not know the name, select a name to see if video displays. If not, try selecting other video device names until you see the video from your webcam display in the window.

If you continue facing the issue, then I recommend you check the webcam in the Youcam software.

Follow these steps to use your webcam with Cyberlink YouCam:

  1. In YouCam, click the Configure icon .

  2. Select the name of your webcam from the Capture Device drop-down list.

    Cyberlink YouCam settings

  3. Select OK to accept the selection. Exit and restart the YouCam application to view an image.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
