I am using an HP V270 27-inch monitor as an external monitor for my MacBook Pro, which is running macOS Catalina.
The monitor is used to extend my laptop screen (it is NOT run as a parallel or replacement display).
I connect using HDMI (HDMI cable + HDMI to USBC converter). Sometimes, randomly, the monitor display sleeps. I could be watching a movie or even doing work on the monitor and it goes to sleep. I do not know why. I tried turning off the auto sleep option in the monitor settings, etc. but nothing has worked yet. To fix the issue when it happens, I can either put my laptop to sleep and wake it up again, or disconnect and reconnect the monitor by unplugging the hdmi cable quickly.
Has anyone else encountered this issue / how can I fix it? Thanks.

@NickK1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Have you tried connecting this monitor to a different computer and check if the issue persists?
Or connect an alternate monitor to the MAC?
Try the steps mentioned in this document.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
