I have a smart TV that I would like to use as an extended display. I am using the lone HDMI port on the rear of the tower to my HP computer monitor. I am using a USB-C to HDMI adapter to to try to connect a smart tv (1 year old) as my extended monitor. When I am in the display settings and click on detect. I am given the message "we didn't find another display". I have verified the HDMI cables are good, as well as verified the USB-C port works. I have powered down and restarted the computer with and without the USB-C adapter connected and still not detected.

In order to give an answer to that question, more of the model number is needed, IE: HP Pavilion Desktop TP0-1026

There are many different configurations in that model line.
