HP EliteDisplay E233 23-inch Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all.

As I was working today my EliteDisplay E233 monitor started displaying narrow and dense vertical lines. In a few seconds, my Word document faded out and a black screen with grey vertical lines faded in (just like screen FX). I use an Elitebook laptop and I don't have any issues with its integrated monitor.

So, I plugged out the HDMI cable that I've been using for the last couple of weeks and the monitor still displayed grey and white lines over a black screen. When I plugged the cable back in, the monitor displayed the Word document as it should be for a moment, but faded it out again quickly to replace it with lines once more, this time on a candy pink background. I tried this a few more times but now it never displays the proper computer screen, just pink bg and lines. When unplugged, I switch the monitor and off--it first shows an unplugged device warning but the warning fades out and the lines fade in.

I know this looks like dead equipment, but first I wanted to ask for opinions in case this is a solvable problem. My drivers on the computer are up to date. I tried to update the firmware driver of the monitor  but it always fails without giving any explanation as to why. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
