Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Elite 8300 AIO powers on nothing on the screen just a red power light. Sometimes I get 8 beeps with white light that flashes. It seems the 8 beeps and white light blinking happens after it's been unplugged awhile maybe after the power has drained. Not sure it is allowed but I have a YouTube video on the issue.

Read Below for things done. Things done to HP Elite 8300 AIO Computer before Issue. System came with 500 GB HDD (Not SSD). Windows 10 Home Un activated. Few drivers were installed. I took the 500 GB HDD out put in 500 GB SSD. Used Original Recovery DVD's I have a place I order HP disk from. I knew the DVD's would reinstall Windows 7. I wanted all the software that was preinstalled and wanted the touch screen to work. I was told this was the best way was to upgrade from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10 Professional to have everything to work. On the original Install Windows 10 Home on the HDD touch screen did not work. After using a few weeks and running the HP diagnostics all night set on Loop until error. The next morning there was no error. I upgraded the 500 GB SSD to a 1 TB SSD. I had everything working I wanted to take a look at the original 500 GB HDD. So I cloned with Acronis to the 500 GB SSD the 500 GB SSD is now a spare. After attempting to boot after the clone I got a BSOD and I cannot remember what the error was. Seems like Inaccessible Boot Device I cannot remember. From there things went downhill. I cannot remember what made this red light error. Maybe After working with the drive a little then changing the cmos. I did change the CMOS and by mistake there was a wire over the CR3032 Socket. I did not realize that and put the new Battery over the wire. I read where the red light could mean CMOS is shorted. This System does have a PCMCIA Video Card I took that out reseated it. I took memory out reseated it. I pushed the CMOS button on the Motherboard I have tried several steps to get this working. Right now I have the CR2032 battery out has been out several times as of right now. I am just out of things to try. I have about $215.00 in this system after buying a 1 TB SSD. I can still use the 1 TB SSD and maybe just go back to the Other HP Elite 8300 Maybe take the CPU i7 3770 out of this AIO and use it in the other HP Elite 8300 Tower the CPU is i5 3770 I would be upgrading and still feel like I got my money's worth. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi:

Chapter 10, page 185 of the service manual indicates that 8 beeps with a flashing red light, not white light means the BIOS is corrupt, or the motherboard has failed.

c03821564.pdf (hp.com)

There are no references to a flashing white light.

You can make a BIOS recovery file from the support page from the BIOS update file, but you need to know what version the BIOS was on.

If it is beyond 2.99 you can use the latest one (3.08).

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95501-96000/sp95971.exe

If it is earlier than 3.00 you have to use v2.99.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73099.exe

You run either file and an info page will open.

The instructions to recover the BIOS are in the last section.

I have never done a BIOS recovery before, so unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that.

As my video shows there is nothing on the screen. It now seems if the system is unplugged. and all power is drained. And I plug it in and power it on I get 8 beeps. But if it stays plugged in powered off and I power it on I get a red light.

Again, nothing comes on the screen. I wish people would read description and watch the video. Not trying to advertise my YouTube I am just here for help.

Video is only age restricted so I can have comments on my Video. It's a YouTube rule not mine. I do thank you for the help.

Sorry, I clicked on the wrong section of the link and got nothing but a page of videos the first time.

I watched your video and unfortunately, I would not have any idea how to fix the problem.

I saw your reply on my phone. But came back to my computer your reply is gone. You have to click "view on YouTube" I am sorry I offended you.

But I take time and troubleshoot things and take time making video's when there is a problem. I just got the impression you did not read my description it does say no video on the screen so I cannot do anything to the BIOS. And the BIOS was version 2.99, and I did not update it yet so it cannot be a bad BIOS flash. Description also says HP Diagnostics was ran and that was last week, and I set it to loop until error ran overnight and in the morning there was no errors.

I hope I can get this solved I noticed I have had more views on my Video overnight went from 29 to 37. Anyway, even though I changed the battery it came out of a new pack Energizer 2032. When I did that I layed the battery down over one of the wires.

Maybe it was just the wi-fi antenna wire it was in the socket. But there is another wire also. I really don't think that did it.

But here is what happens when I hold Windows + B. I pushed power while holding Windows + B it came on there was like 6 beeps it shut down. Sometimes there is 8 beeps.

Now when I power on it's just a red light on power not blinking and it will stay on fans start spinning fast and it shuts down.

I am about to try a battery out of a brand new never opened CR3032. If I take the Battery out power on same thing happens red light, then fans start then it shuts down.

If a fresh brand-new Battery does not do it I will take a look at the CPU thermal paste.

This system was purchased used from eBay I do not think the seller was really knowledgeable because like I said Windows 10 Home was installed un activated and there is a Windows 7 Professional Product Key that could have been used. Maybe the paste needs changing also on the graphics card.

I was notified by email I had a reply to this message 13 Hours ago. I come here to check, and I was the last person to reply.

HP If the notification system is broke, please fix it. It is a waste of my time to come here and see there is no message.

Thanks
