HP EliteDesk 800 G3 small form factor desktop
Geforce 130 PCI video card (vga/hdmi)

Hi all, I plugged the graphics card in and it didn't activate the vga monitor I had plugged in.

I plugged in another monitor to the on-board DisplayPort and it activated but all I could see was a dark grey background with a cursor arrow, which did move with mouse movement.

No text on screen, no activity at all on vga monitor attached to geforce card.

I am trying to find a driver but in the notes it says some graphics cards may need setup at purchase... is this an issue with all secondary cards or only some?

This card is a very basic one and I expected to just plug and play, what am I missing?

Hi:

Did you first go into the BIOS, enable legacy mode and disable secure boot?

On PC's that came with W8 or newer, secure boot prevents some hardware such as graphics cards from working.

Thanks Paul, you are a life-saver!

The HP computer was protected by SureStart or whatever it is called and when I changed to legacy it worked straight away.
