W2072a monitor
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and older

We have an HP W2072a monitor connected to the VGA port of a Dell server.  The monitor was moved and disconnected/reconnected.  We are having problems with the display being too large for the monitor screen (i.e., the video display on the monitor is cut off on all four sides, so we cannot see what is displayed).  My understanding is that the W2072a has a native resolution of 1600x900@60Hz.  How can I set the monitor for this resolution?  Should it be done via Windows 10 desktop settings or by using the buttons on the monitor itself?

Thanks very much for any assistance you can offer.

which says   1600 x 900 @ 60 Hz (same as max resolution). You can't set it up higher. Generic Windows driver should be able to set it up as 1600 x 900 otherwise you need its driver from

Thanks very much for your helpful suggestions.  The first thing I tried was to adjust the resolution of the Windows 10 desktop to match the native resolution of the HP monitor (1600x900@60 Hz).  That resolution was not offered by Windows 10.  The closest I could get was 1280x1024.

I have been using a remote access program (RemotePC) on this system, but the program cannot handle the lower resolution alternatives.  When I connect remotely via RemotePC, the entire screen is black with no icons, etc.

So, today I plan on trying the HP driver you supplied me with.  I assume that will provide the 1600x900 screen res.  However, I don't know if RemotePC will work properly.  If not, is there an easy way I can remove the HP driver if doesn't work with RemotePC?  I am able to work on-site with this server, as long as I set the screen resolution to 1280x1024 (SVGA back in the old days, I believe).  Not when I have to connect remotely, though.
