I am not that smart on computers. I currently have the HP Envy TEO1-3254 desktop which has 2 back ports, 1 VGA and 1 HDMI on it. I got it with a hp monitor also as a package from Best Buy. I have been using that monitor 2560-1440 (has HMI & DVI ports) along with an older HP monitor with lesser graphics of 1920-1080 (I think). I decided to get a new monitor to have them both the same of 2560-1440. I found a Dell 32" monitor that fit that size. It has 2 HDMI ports and 1 DisplayPort 1.2. I thought no problem....until i hooked it up. I did not know that I could not hook up my HDMI port from monitor to monitor. I was later told that is why it did not work. What can be done if anything to make it work to get the best quality. Do I have to get a new computer with the newer ports, can I get another card to put into the computer so that I have 2 HDMI ports? I ordered an adapter of VGA to HDMI to try (yes, going from CPU to monitor direction). THEN after researching read that it will distort the resolution a lot. HELP! I really got no help from HP on the phone.

Sounds like your machine ONLY has TWO native ports for video out one digital and one analog (HDMI and VGA). You have to use native connections, conversion won't give the result.
Option:
(a) Keep the old way, saving more money to buy new machine,
(b) Add video card to your machine, you may have to change PSU and ending up cost more $$$
I think waiting to buy a new machine is the best option. There are many new machines on market today, they are cheaper than you thought.
Regards.
