I have recently been experiencing an issue where intermittently windows open an random when the systen is unattended. EG Word, Excel or other programs open unexpectedly
I suspect this may be associated with the touch screen, so I am attempting to disable this
I have followed posts in the community forum, and have disabled HID compliant Touch Screen in Device Manager, but the touch screen is still active, and this has not stopped the randon starting of programs.
So how do I disable the touch screen?

Hi, Thanks for ypur replies
I have disabled the touch dscreen in Device Manager (as per the article)
Tablet Mode is not enabled
I do not particularly want to permanently disable the Touch Screen (as per the second article) in case I may need to enable this in the furture.
Surely there must be an easier way to disable the Touch Screen ????

What is curious is that there are many posts, where it has been disabled, following an update
and there apart from once, but I don't know exactly what was indicated (I couldn't find this solution afterwards), I didn't find anything other than this
And for that, I'm not sure if this is the problem you encountered..
unfortunately I have never tested this type of machine ..

but it seems that the solution I had found was already indicated, and effective
it would suffice to do the reverse for it to work, 0 = touch disabled, 1 = touch enabled

Hi Prométhée,
I have added TouchGate with value = 0 to Register as per the article, But this has not disabled the touch screen.
I am at a complete loss as to how how the touch screen can be disabled.
Alternativey, is there another way to prevent programs from intermittently opening when the system is unattended?

like i said if it doesn't change your problem it may be something other than the function of the screen, or a hardware problem, and it doesn't matter if you disable the function..
at this point, i don't know what can happen
see the hardware tests just in case..
everything is explained in this link
HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures | HP® Customer Support
you may have an error code , failure ID (24-digit code) , as shown
if so, just give this code here
