Actually I found a resolution elsewhere online referring to HP Pavillion 27" displays and this problem. It says you need to connect both a USB C to USB A adapter and HDMI (or DPC) between computer and monitor. I did this and it partly resolved my problem - I was able to download the firmware from the HP Support Centre. However, the monitor still says 'video source not found' and I still can't find any reference to the camera function on the control panel for the monitor...

My first thought is that its possibly not liking either the USB cable or adapter. Do you have access to another to test with? A straight C to A cable would be ideal.
Have you tried clicking the camera riser a few times to make sure there's not a loose connection inside that?
Does any camera show up in the Device Manager and have a yellow caution sign on it? You can uninstall that, then reboot.
Otherwise I would not know whats wrong.
