HP All-in-One Desktop PC 24-cr1000i IDS Base Model

Just got the HP PC 23-cr200i all in one, and I don't see any fasteners at all on the unit for taking the back off.  Is in simply fastened on?

Question 2: How does one remove the adjustable stand once it's clicked into place?  There is a screw there, but barring brute force, not seeing it coming close to release.

Question 3: Does this unit only have one M.2 capability?  The specs for expansion on it indicate 1 M.2 for SSD and one for WAN- can't tell if that is the one already occupied by the factory SSD until I get the back off. 🙂

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi @Benguin,

Please find the next steps below.

Specifics for the HP PC 23-cr200i

  • M.2 SSD Slot: This is usually used for the primary storage device. If your unit came with an SSD pre-installed, it is likely occupying this slot.
  • M.2 WAN Slot: This is generally used for a wireless network card. It may be empty if your unit uses a different type of wireless card.

Verifying Expansion Options

  1. Consult HP Support or Documentation: Visit the HP Support website and search for your model number (23-cr200i). Check the specifications and manuals for detailed information about the M.2 slots.
  2. System Information or BIOS: Boot into the BIOS or check the system information from within Windows to see details about the installed hardware and available slots.

Summary

  • To remove the adjustable stand, look for the release mechanism and follow the steps to detach it safely.
  • The HP PC 23-cr200i likely has one M.2 slot for an SSD and possibly another for a WAN card. The SSD slot may already be occupied by the factory-installed SSD.

If you are not sure, or uncomfortable, I recommend you contact phone support for more details before trying.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Benguin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Removing the adjustable stand from your HP PC 23-cr200i All-in-One and understanding its M.2 expansion capabilities require specific steps and information. Here's how you can proceed with both:

Removing the Adjustable Stand

  1. Power Off and Unplug the Device: Ensure the all-in-one PC is turned off and disconnected from any power source.
  2. Prepare a Safe Workspace: Place the PC on a flat, soft surface to prevent scratches or damage.
  3. Locate the Stand Release Mechanism:
    • The stand release mechanism is usually located at the base of the stand or near where the stand connects to the back of the monitor. Look for a latch, button, or screws that secure the stand in place.
  4. Release the Stand:
    • If there's a latch or button, press or slide it to release the stand.
    • If screws secure the stand, use a screwdriver to remove them. Keep the screws in a safe place for reassembly if needed.
  5. Remove the Stand: Once the mechanism is released, gently pull the stand away from the monitor. It should come off without excessive force.

Understanding M.2 Expansion Capabilities

The HP PC 23-cr200i typically comes with limited internal expansion options. Here’s how you can check and understand the M.2 slots:

  1. Check the User Manual:
    • The user manual or service guide for your specific model will have detailed information about the internal components and expansion capabilities. This can usually be found on the HP support website.
  2. Open the Back Panel:
    • If you’re comfortable doing so, you can open the back panel of your all-in-one to visually inspect the M.2 slots. Ensure the device is powered off and unplugged before opening.
    • Look for a cover or screws on the back panel that provide access to the internal components.
  3. Identify the M.2 Slots:
    • Typically, there will be labels next to the M.2 slots indicating their purpose. One slot is usually designated for the SSD and another for WAN (Wi-Fi/BT card).
    • If your factory SSD is occupying the only M.2 slot intended for storage, then you won't have another slot for additional SSD storage.
