This does not work for an HP Touchsmart touchscreen computer.  Mine is a 520-1030 running Windows 7 64bit, and it only has USB connections.  I connected an adaptor from USB to VGA.  When I turn on the VGA monitor, my HP goes to sleep, and when i can keep it up, it cannot see the monitor and the monitor cannot see the computer.
