How to connect a second monitor

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi 

I wonder if someone could help. I am trying to connect a second monitor to my Pavillion 23 All in one machine but it doesn't work. The pavilion only has USB ports. I have a cable that connects USB to the new HP monitor but that doesn't work either. Do I need some sort of adapter or does this machine not support a second screen.
