Hi @DESKTOP-OM2SQ03,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble with brightness control on your laptop, and it might be linked to your NVIDIA graphics software. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure your Windows operating system is fully up-to-date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for hardware-related issues.
2. Update Graphics Drivers
- Go to the NVIDIA website or use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software to check for and install the latest drivers for your GPU.
3. Adjust Brightness through Windows Settings
- Windows 10/11: Go to Settings > System > Display. Here, you should see a brightness slider. If it's missing, it might be an issue with your display driver.
4. Check Display Adapter Settings
- Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it).
- Expand the Display adapters section, right-click your NVIDIA adapter, and choose Update driver.
- Also, check if there’s an option to roll back to a previous driver if the issue started after an update.
5. Check NVIDIA Control Panel Settings
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel (right-click on the desktop and select it).
- Go to Display > Adjust desktop color settings. Check if there are any settings related to brightness or gamma that might be affecting how your display appears.
6. Check Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Ensure that your power plan is set to a mode that allows you to adjust brightness settings, such as Balanced or Power Saver.
8. Check for Conflicting Software
- Sometimes third-party software that manages screen color or brightness can interfere with the built-in settings. If you have any such software installed, try disabling or uninstalling it to see if that resolves the issue.
9. BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Rarely, brightness issues might be influenced by BIOS/UEFI settings. Check your laptop’s BIOS/UEFI settings to see if there are any options related to display or graphics.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
