@laurens3 -- what I see in the manual is the following image:
Part #14 is the "base".
To the right, there are 4 screws, to attach the base to the back of the monitor.
Part #15 is the cover that "snaps" onto #14, if you decide to use #14.
Part #16 is the VESA adapter. Remove the screws, and #14, and then use the 4 screws to attach #16.
Not shown is how to connect a VESA wall-mounting plate (or wall-mounted articulated arm) to both the #16 adapter and the nearest wall.

So much easier when we gave the solution to understand this **bleep** document, too bad no one saw this before

sorry @laurens3 , all i can do is give you the manual .
there are indications, but I don't know if enough

@itsmyname wrote:@laurens3 -- the point of having a VESA adapter on the back of the monitor is to connect it to a wall-mounting arm.
Example: Long_Reach_Wall_Mount_Monitor_Arm_ErgoDirect_EDM-1201W.jpg (1000×915)
So, rather than the monitor's screen being supported by a pedestal below it, the monitor "hangs" from the wall.
Is the supplied VESA adapter just a "push-fit" type of connection, that needs NO screws?
