I'm using an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics. The brightness adjustment is not working. I can't adjust the brightness through Quick Settings, the Settings app, or the brightness keys on the keyboard. Additionally, the Night Light feature isn’t working either. Please provide a solution for this issue.

Hi @dharma_9997,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be when your display brightness and Night Light features aren’t working, especially on a high-performance HP PC like yours with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U and Radeon Graphics. Let’s walk through a few steps to help you get this resolved.

1. Update Your Graphics Drivers

Outdated or incompatible drivers are often the root cause of brightness and Night Light issues.

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click on AMD Radeon Graphics and choose Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
  • Alternatively, visit the AMD Drivers & Support page to download the latest drivers manually.

2. Check Windows Display Settings

Sometimes the brightness slider is missing due to driver issues.

  • Go to Settings → System → Display.
  • Under Brightness and color, check if the brightness slider is visible.
  • If not, it’s likely a driver or system issue.

3. Disable Adaptive Brightness

This feature can sometimes interfere with manual brightness control.

  • Open Control Panel → Power Options.
  • Click Change plan settings next to your selected plan.
  • Click Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand Display → Enable adaptive brightness, and turn it off.

4. Use AMD Radeon Software

You can also try adjusting brightness through the AMD Radeon Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop → AMD Radeon Software.
  • Navigate to Display settings and look for brightness or color adjustments.

5. Night Light Not Working?

This is often tied to display driver compatibility.

  • Ensure Night Light is enabled under Settings → System → Display.
  • If it still doesn’t work, reinstalling the display driver (as above) usually helps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
