Hello, I bought an HP OmniStudio X All-in-One Desktop 32-c0xxx and I didn't realize it has a 60Hz refresh rate. My question is: Can I modify the computer to increase the refresh rate to 120Hz or 144Hz?

Hi @عبدالعزيز,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OmniStudio X All-in-One Desktop 32-c0xxx having a 60 Hz refresh rate and wanting to increase it to 120 Hz or 144 Hz. Let’s go through a few checks.

Confirm the Maximum Refresh Rate Supported by the Built-In Display

  • Right-click on the Windows desktop and select Display settings.
  • Scroll down and select Advanced display.
  • Locate Choose a refresh rate under the display information.
  • Check the available refresh rate options listed in the drop-down menu.
  • If only 60 Hz appears, the internal panel is designed to operate at that fixed refresh rate.

Note: In most all-in-one desktops, the refresh rate is limited by the built-in display hardware.

Check Graphics Driver and System Updates

  • Open Device Manager in Windows.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click the installed graphics adapter and select Update driver.
  • Install any available driver updates.
  • Restart the computer and recheck Advanced display settings.

Verify Graphics Hardware Capabilities

  • Open Task Manager and select the Performance tab.
  • Click GPU to view the installed graphics hardware.
  • Check the GPU model specifications online for supported refresh rates.
  • Note that higher refresh rates may be supported only on external monitors.

Note: Even if the GPU supports 120 Hz or higher, the internal display panel must also support that refresh rate.

Use an External High-Refresh-Rate Monitor

  • Check the back of the computer for HDMI or DisplayPort outputs.
  • Connect a monitor that supports 120 Hz or 144 Hz.
  • Open Display settings > Advanced display.
  • Select the external monitor from the display list.
  • Choose the higher refresh rate if supported by the monitor.

Understand Hardware Limitations

  • The refresh rate of an all-in-one display is tied to the installed LCD panel and internal display controller.
  • These components are not designed to be replaced or upgraded separately.
  • Changing the internal panel to a higher-refresh-rate model is not supported.
  • Higher refresh rates can typically only be achieved by using a compatible external monitor connected to the system.

I hope this helps.
