 i keep receiving this message. I haven’t messed with anything, or even turned it on in about a month

Does the monitor have a reset function?

 

Try another cable?  Try HDMI.

 

Did you recently switch to display port cable?  Update a video driver?  Use a new cable?  Some cables needs to have pin 20 open ie: no wiring on it.

be sure to use cables that came with the monitor.

Thank you for your reply. I figured it out, I just unplugged everything and plugged it back in. My cat always goes behind the monitor so I think she might have unplugged something

 A Chihuahua (not mine) bit through my AIO power cord.  The dog did not die, the AIO did.

If a tree falls in the forest, a Chihuahua 500 miles away will bark at it.
