Hi guys,

I have an issue with my Intel UHD Graphics 770 with high GPU on any WebGL2 websites (confirmed also on my older 700 series GPU on my other computer as well)... I logged a ticket with Intel about the problem and they were able to confirm and replicate the issue (flightradar24 when zooming right in sends the GPU usage to 100% and also maptiler weather layer streamline animation also sends it to 100% GPU)...

I logged the ticket with Intel way back at the end of Nov and we were working through the ticket and they had confirmed they could replicate the issue and were working on the problem.  This morning I get this lovely update from them about it:

Hope you're doing well! I wanted to reach out and apologize for taking longer than expected to get back to you. Our team is still digging into your graphics issue, but I just want to share these with you first.

Effective September 19, 2025, Intel is transitioning 11th through 14th Generation Intel Processor Graphics, along with related Intel Atom®, Pentium®, and Celeron® processor graphics, to a legacy software support model.

Software support will be limited to critical fixes and security vulnerabilities only. Driver updates will be released quarterly (instead of regular updates). Additional critical releases will be provided only as needed

Should you choose to continue with support, please be aware that even if our development team resolves your issue, any fix will only be implemented in Intel Ultra Core Series 1 or newer drivers. Unfortunately, this means the fix would not be included in drivers for your current graphics card.

I understand that this is not the resolution that you're seeking, and I want to apologize for the frustration that this may have caused. I will be making a follow up on January 16, 2026, if I haven't heard from you.

This is absolutely ridiculous that I have a system from HP that is still being sold when Intel have classified the GPU as legacy and won't be doing any driver updates for it.. I use this for business and we have the Maptiler Weatherplus layer on our website which do daily work on (I do programming for a major weather company) - so now it looks like I will be forced to go out and buy another computer just because Intel have classified 14th gen processor graphics as legacy.  I have no idea where to go next besides forking out thousands on a new computer.

Cheers, Mike

Hi @mikemanning83,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re facing with your Intel UHD Graphics 770 and the recent update from Intel regarding legacy support. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially since you rely on WebGL2 applications like Flightradar24 and Maptiler Weatherplus for your business work.

To assist you better, could you please share a few more details:

  • The exact HP system model you’re using (desktop or laptop).
  • Whether you’ve noticed the high GPU usage only on specific WebGL2 sites or across all graphics-intensive applications.
  • If you’ve tested with different browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and whether the behavior is consistent.

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Browser Settings: Ensure hardware acceleration is enabled/disabled in your browser settings and test both modes. Sometimes toggling this can reduce GPU spikes.
  • Windows Graphics Settings: Go to Settings → System → Display → Graphics settings and assign your browser to run in “Power saving” mode (CPU rendering) instead of “High performance” (GPU rendering).
  • Check for HP Updates: Run HP Support Assistant to confirm you have the latest BIOS and chipset updates, which can sometimes improve compatibility.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
