I am trying to hook my laptop up to a monitor through a USB-C to HDMI adapter, as I don't have an HDMI port on this laptop. I've used this adapter to display on my TV in the past and had no issues. I thought it was possible that the adapter was bad so I bought a new one and there was still no change. I've also changed out the HDMI cords in case the OG one was bad. Yet, I still have issues with not displaying on my monitor. I don't know where to go from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @kjlintz,.
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Compatibility
- Confirm Adapter: Ensure that the USB-C to HDMI adapter is compatible with your HP Spectre x360 and supports video output. Look for any specification or indication of compatibility with the laptop model.
- Check Monitor’s Input: Verify that the HDMI port on the monitor is functioning correctly. Try using a different HDMI port if available.
Basic Troubleshooting
- Restart Devices: Restart both your laptop and the monitor to refresh the connection and settings.
- Check Monitor Input Source: Ensure that the monitor is set to the correct HDMI input source. Use the monitor's input selection menu to switch to the HDMI port you are using.
Update Drivers
- Driver Update: Update the graphics drivers and firmware on your HP Spectre x360. This can be done by visiting the HP Support website and downloading the latest drivers for your model.
- Graphics Drivers: Ensure that the latest drivers for Intel graphics are installed.
- USB-C Drivers: Verify that the USB-C drivers are up to date.
USB-C Port and Adapter
- Try Different USB-C Ports: If your laptop has multiple USB-C ports, try connecting the adapter to a different port.
- Test Other Devices: Connect the USB-C to HDMI adapter to another device (e.g., another laptop) to check if the adapter is functioning properly.
Windows Settings
- Display Settings: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings." Ensure that the monitor is detected and configured correctly.
- Detect Button: Click on the "Detect" button in the display settings to search for connected displays.
- Project Settings: Press Windows Key + P to open the projection options. Select "Extend" or "Duplicate" to display the screen on the monitor.
I hope this helps.
