Hi @Nehag19,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop might be stuck in a boot loop or encountering a hardware issue that's preventing it from starting properly. The fact that pressing Esc turns it off suggests there might be a critical error during the startup process.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot further.

Check for Error Messages: Note down any error codes or messages that appear on the screen before pressing Esc.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then try powering it on again.

Check Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure all hardware components (RAM, hard drive, etc.) are securely seated in their slots. Sometimes, loose connections can cause startup issues.

Boot into Safe Mode (if possible):

  • Some laptops allow you to boot into Safe Mode by pressing F8 or another designated key during startup. This can help you identify if the issue is related to software or drivers.

Use Diagnostics Tools:

  • Many HP laptops have built-in diagnostic tools accessible during startup. Typically, you can access these by pressing F2 or another key (often displayed briefly on the screen during startup). Run a comprehensive system test to check for hardware failures.

Update BIOS (if possible):

  • If you can access BIOS settings, check if there's a BIOS update available from HP's support website. Updating BIOS can sometimes resolve startup issues caused by compatibility or firmware bugs.

Try Booting from External Media:

  • Create a bootable USB drive with a diagnostic tool or a Linux live distribution. Try booting from this external media to see if the laptop can start up properly.

These steps should help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with your HP laptop not starting up correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
