HP Recommended

The Surface series uses a Mini Display 1.2 adapter socket.

Surface devices do not have HDMI sockets. The problem is that most suppliers give an adapter 1920 x 1080 resolution for driving a monitor. This is a problem because the HP WMR Headset requires a 2880 x 1440 resolution.

The Microsoft Recommended list of adapter https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/recommended_adapters_for_windows_mixed_r...

This is great but, there are TWO Adapters sold for this device sold by the Microsoft store

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/d/surface-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-20-adapter/8qj8ss92m2tl - this adapter is supported, as it supports HDMI 2.0 / 4K resolution

The only one verified to work seems to be Cable Matters Active Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter Supporting 4K 60Hz which is currently unavailable on Amazon UK but still available in US.

The main UK resellers of Micosoft Surface products do not understand  this, though they have now been told, they will still send the wrong cable as they are £10 $10 when really the user need the £39 $39 cable for HP WMR to work

Therefore every sale with the display cable is the wrong one for HP WMR adapter 1920 x 1080 resolution for driving a monitor. Even Microsoft sells/sends the cheaper one. Some resellser send out a white Mini cable which is totally useless.

The next best seems to be Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Compatible
