I’m experiencing an issue with my monitor. While watching YouTube videos, the screen suddenly went black, though the video audio continued playing. I used Alt+F4 to shut down the PC and restarted it, but the monitor still doesn’t display anything. The PC seems to be working fine, but there’s no signal on the monitor.

I noticed that the small light on the back panel (where the power cable connects) is on, but the front power indicator light is off.

Hi @retsiger,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your monitor has no signal/no display, but the PC appears to be working. Try these steps:

  • Check the monitor and cable for damage:

    • Look for damaged cables or bent pins in the video cable and connector.

    • If needed, replace the cable.

  • Test the monitor with another PC:

    • This is one of the best ways to isolate the issue.

    • If the monitor works on another PC, the problem is likely with the original computer or its connection.

    • If it doesn’t work on another PC, the monitor hardware may be bad.

  • Verify the correct input/source:

    • If using a TV or display with multiple inputs, make sure the correct source/input is selected.

  • Check display connection type:

    • Match the cable and ports correctly (for example, HDMI-to-HDMI, DVI-to-DVI, VGA-to-VGA, or use a proper adapter if needed).

Please help us by providing the Product serial number or product number of your monitor in a private message so we can assist further.
