Hi @Csparky65,
Thanks for getting back to us with your HP device model.
Since you're using an HP OmniDesk Slim Desktop S03-0000i with a Dell S2240M monitor that goes black randomly, let’s try a few checks to narrow this down.
Check the video cable connection
• Make sure the HDMI/VGA/DVI cable is firmly connected on both ends.
• If possible, try a different cable to rule out a faulty one.
Test a different video port on your desktop
• If your PC has multiple video outputs, switch the monitor to another port.
• This helps confirm if the issue is port-related.
Swap monitors temporarily
• Connect the Dell monitor to a different PC or connect another monitor to your HP PC.
• This helps identify if the issue comes from the monitor or the desktop.
Update the graphics driver
• Go to Windows Update and check for updates.
• Also update the graphics driver from Device Manager → Display adapters → Update driver.
Disable power-saving features temporarily
• Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings.
• Set “Turn off the display” and “Sleep” to Never for testing.
Check the refresh rate
• Right-click the desktop → Display settings → Advanced display settings.
• Set the refresh rate to 60 Hz (recommended for the Dell S2240M).
I hope this helps.

Hello,
I have done that. I have bought new cables/adapters to no avail. The HP OmniDesk Slim Desktop S03-0000i is my new Windows 11 pc. My Windows 10 pc (HP Pavilion Slimline 400-034 Desktop PC) had no issues with these monitors. My monitors are a HP 22yh and a Dell S2240M. The Dell has a DVI to display port adapter and the HP has a HDMI to HDMI cable.
Thanks,

Hi @Csparky65,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your monitor is going black randomly when connected to your HP OmniDesk. Let’s go through a few general steps to check what could be causing this.”
Check connections
Make sure all cables and adapters are securely connected.
If possible, try a different port on the PC or monitor.
Test with a different system
Connect the monitor to another PC temporarily.
This helps determine if the issue is with the monitor or the HP desktop.
Update system software
Ensure Windows and graphics drivers are fully updated.
Sometimes display issues are resolved with updated drivers.
Adjust display settings
Check the resolution and refresh rate to ensure they are within supported ranges for the monitor.
Disable power-saving features temporarily
Adjust system settings so the display does not turn off automatically for testing purposes.
Observe for patterns
Note if the blackouts occur during certain activities or at random, which helps narrow down the cause.
I hope this helps.

Hello, I have done that. It seems to me that there is something wrong with the display adapter. I can't believe that this new pc is the only one with the problem. Seems to it doesn't matter which port your attached to it's always on the one selected as the #1 monitor.
Thanks,

Hi @Csparky65,
I understand your HP OmniDesk Slim Desktop S03-0000i is randomly causing your Dell S2240M and HP 22yh monitors to go black, even with new cables/adapters and on Windows 11. Let’s go through a few additional steps to narrow this down and hopefully resolve the issue.
Check graphics output type and adapter compatibility
– The Dell S2240M uses a DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter. Some adapters can be finicky, especially on newer graphics cards.
– If possible, try using a direct DVI or HDMI connection without an adapter, even temporarily, to see if the blackouts stop.
Update or rollback graphics drivers
– Go to Device Manager → Display adapters → your GPU → Update driver.
– If you’re already on the latest driver, try rolling back to a previous stable version. Some Windows 11 updates can introduce compatibility issues with older monitors.
Adjust Windows display settings
– Right-click Desktop → Display settings → Advanced display settings.
– Make sure the refresh rate matches each monitor’s recommended spec (e.g., 60 Hz).
– Try setting each monitor as the main display one at a time to see if the issue is tied to the “#1 monitor.”
Disable hardware acceleration (for testing)
– Some apps and browsers can trigger GPU glitches. Disable hardware acceleration in browsers and test printing the blackouts.
Test each monitor individually
– Disconnect one monitor and run your PC with only the Dell, then only the HP.
– This can help determine if the issue is multi-monitor related or isolated to a specific monitor.
Check Windows 11 power & sleep settings
– Go to Settings → System → Power & sleep → Additional power settings.
– Set the plan to High performance and disable “Turn off display” and “Sleep” for testing.
I hope this helps.
